Losing my job felt like the ground disappeared under my feet.
One day I had routine, identity, and financial stability. The next day, I had uncertainty, fear, and too many unanswered questions.
What hurt the most was not just the loss of income, but the loss of confidence. I started questioning my worth, my skills, and my future. Nights became longer, sleep became lighter, and conversations with family felt heavier.
Some days I felt strong and hopeful. Other days I felt embarrassed, anxious, and exhausted from pretending everything was fine.
If you are going through job loss, please know this:
You are not lazy
You are not a failure
You are not alone
Job loss is not the end of your story. It is a painful pause — not a full stop.
Sharing this here is my way of reminding myself (and others) that rebuilding takes time, and that asking for support is not weakness.
If you’ve experienced job loss, I’d like to hear how you’re coping.
